How to wear double denim

While denim is such a wardrobe staple we can all agree that the denim shirt, sometimes known as the chambray shirt is one piece that doesn’t seem to get enough credit. It’s such a vital part of a denim on denim ensemble, you can’t go wrong with a shirt like this in your wardrobe.

Let’s talk about how to make your double denim outfit pleasing to the eyes, shall we ?

1. The trick is to make sure the shades of denim are different. The contrast in the different shades will bring your outfit to life. I’m talking about wearing a lighter shade of your denim shirt and a darker shade of your denim skirt or trousers. Alternatively, you can wear your shirt in a darker shade and bottoms in a lighter shade. Depending on the body parts you’ll like to highlight, lighter shades are flattering, while darker shades are slimmer.
2. Stay away from denim accessories. If you must use a statement piece, stick to one piece maybe your necklace, bag or shoes.
3. We’ll be trying to emphasize how awesome your double denim is, so the lesser accessories you use, the better. The denim is the focus of your outfit, so try to use little accessories.
4. Avoid wearing the same shade of denim all through, so the outfit does not look faded.
5. Distressed denim is so much fun to try with double denim, so by all means indulge in your ripped jeans.
6. Lastly, you should totally experiment with colors. Maybe consider denim in shades of white, black and grey so that your options are numerous.

Even though the usual suspect with double denim is the basic shirt and skirt or jeans combination, they’re other interesting double denim outfit ideas that are definitely worth trying;

• A denim jacket, round necked tee and skinny jeans.
• A denim jacket, denim bustier and white bottoms.
• A denim jacket and a denim dress.
• A black or navy blue blazer draped over a denim shirt and denim trousers.
• A denim dress shirt and skinny jeans.

I paired my denim shirt with a denim mini skirt. I added the red slingbacks and neck tie to add a bit of oomph to my outfit. I accessorized with hand candy and my mobile device. Lol. This look is so chic and is perfect for a meet up with the squad.
